7 tips to help make a great Super Bowl party

It's February, which means cold weather, winter blues and excessive amounts of Chapstick.

February's not all that bad though, there is one special event that is right around the corner...

No ladies, not Valentines day... Us guys still have weeks to plan for that!

It's the Super Bowl!

This years match up features the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons. The game is sure to be full of thrills as two of the leagues best offensive teams square off on Sunday, February 5th at 3:30PM Pacific time.

It's your yearly dose of Football, expensive TV commercials, excessive halftime shows and lets not forget about the 7 layer bean dip!

This year's halftime act features Pop Icon Lady Gaga with special Guest Tony Bennett!

Are you considering hosting a Super Bowl party? Well Earth Smart is here with some tips to make it the greatest Super Bowl party ever!

1. Everything revolves around the food!

Always make sure you've got the Super Bowl essentials, such as wings, chips, beer, and most importantly the bean dip!

Other things you can include are Pizza, Nachos with Guacamole, Spinach & Artichoke dip and pulled pork.

2. Have a well stocked bar

The last thing you want is to run out of beverages when the game is tied in the 4th quarter. Make sure your fridge is full, you can always save the leftovers for another day.

3. Make the game a little bit more interesting

Try placing bets on the final score, or you can try proposition bets such as "what songs Lady Gaga will sing" and "what colour of Gatorade will be dumped on the coaches head"

4. Try playing Super Bowl bingo!

Super bowl bingo is a perfect way to get all of your guests into the game, even the ones who don't particularly like sports. The game board and rules are exactly like normal bingo. The only difference is you cover a square when something happens during the broadcast, such as an interception, or a Budweiser beer advertisement.

Here is an example game card:

5. Make sure that all allergies and specific diets are accounted for

In this day and age, more and more people are developing certain allergies and special diets. It's always very tough for these people going to a party because they end up not being able to eat anything. So ask guests before hand if they require any special consideration. If not, you can always use the next tip to fix the problem!

6. Make it a potluck

Hosting a potluck party takes a lot of the stress and expense away from you. Everyone brings a dish so you don't need to worry about things like allergies and special diets. You can also use a Facebook event page where people can post what they are going to bring so that you don't end up with multiples.

7. Separate the groups

People attend Super Bowl parties for different reasons. Some go for the game, while others couldn't care less and are just there to socialize. Speaking for the avid sports fans, it can be very bothersome listening to people talk while you are trying to watch the game. Try separating the groups, and giving the non-sports fans some sort of other activity to do. This should help both groups enjoy the party more!
